Statute

The Conservatori Riuniti of Siena, known as “del Refugio”, were born at the end of the 16th century as a charitable institution. At the end of the eighteenth century, by the will of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Pietro Leopoldo, they acquired the new identity of Conservatory of San Raimondo al Refugio, aimed at the education and instruction of young girls. After the unification of Italy, from the merger of the Conservatory with other entities, the Regi Conservatori Riuniti di Siena were born, which later became the “Conservatori Femminili Riuniti di Siena”.
The coat of arms of the Foundation still today recalls the coats of arms of the suppressed conservatories. Important collections and a precious documentary heritage bear witness to the interesting and articulated events of the Conservatories over the centuries. On 03 May 2006, with deed signed by notary Dr. Mandarini, the Conservatori Femminili Riuniti di Siena were transformed into a non-profit private law foundation. On 11 September 2006, the “Fondazione” obtained legal recognition and was registered under no. 125 of the Register of Legal Persons at the Prefecture of Siena.
The Organization is subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Education. On 16 May 2017, the Foundation modified its statute with a deed signed by the notary Coppini. From 01 June 2021, the Foundation has activated the VAT number in addition to the Tax Code
